Fair chocolate

At the moment a lot of attention is paid to human rights and working conditions, especially for Asian countries as well as other low wage countries.

Our line of business has to deal with these nations quite a lot, because the majority of our raw materials are cultivated in these countries. The circumstances in which workers must do their job, impact us as well because of this. Consequently Chocolagendijk requests from its suppliers that they stick to what has been set out in the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI).

The ETI code is founded on the following Base Code:

  1. Employment is freely chosen
  2. Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining are respected
  3. Working conditions are safe and hygienic
  4. Child labour shall not be used
  5. Living wages are being paid
  6. Working hours are not excessive
  7. No discrimination is practised
  8. Regular employment is provided
  9. No harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed

*check out www.ethicaltrade.org for more information on Ethical Trading

Obviously Chocolagendijk supports these 9 provisions for 100% and constantly monitors its own working conditions at the same time to make sure that they continue to meet these requirements as well.

All of our chocolate is always manufactured based on the Ethical Trading principle.

Besides that Chocolagendijk is also participant in the Platform Promotional Products. Through this association a so called Code of Conduct has been drawn up, which has been signed by Chocolagendijk as well.
